Auditions for "The Ghost Train"

I received the following casting call from my dear friend, Stephanie. If this interests you, come on out. If you think this will be of interest to someone you know, pass along the word. I hear a killer production team is in the works, and they are looking an equally kick-ass cast.

Where: Town and Country Players
What: Pippen!
When: March 20 and 21 (see below)
Performances: June 12, 13, 19, 20, 21 (matinee), 26 and 27

Auditions: Friday, March 20 from 7:00pm to 10:00pm and Saturday, March 21 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at the Central Bucks Community Senior Center (700 Shady Retreat Road, Doylestown, PA).

All roles are open! To audition:

1. E-mail the director, John Zimmerman, at Fractal514@aol.com for an audition slot.
2. Prepare 16 bars of an upbeat Broadway song and arrive prepared to dance.
3. Costuming and choreography will be sexy, so if you plan to audition you should be comfortable with your body.

Fans of Pippin will be happy to know that this production is taking great pains to stay true to the original feel and intensity of the Fosse production, but is still using the new ending.

Town & Country Players is a Non-Paying theater.

Special Audition: The Langhorne Players

I received a request for help from my friend Stephanie. It was not a personal plea: she is trying to help two of her friends finish casting a play at the Langhorne Players. Stephanie knows these directors personally and speaks well of them. Hey, if Steph vouches for them personally and artistically, that is more than enough for me. So, if you are a Bucks/Montgomery County actor who fits the description below -- and there is time in your schedule -- I urge you to contact Tom and Scott for the audition.

They are truly talented directors, and this is a fantastic role (the actor cast was a pro who got offered a well paying gig, but left them in a pinch) and I hope some of you can help. Auditions for The Busy World is Hushed, The Langhorne Players

The Langhorne Players are proud to announce open auditions for the greater Philadelphia premiere of The Busy World is Hushed by Keith Bunin. Directed by Scott R. Grumling and T. Patrick Ryan this three character play is filled with wisdom, humor, insight and examines the contradictions we find in our faith, our families and ourselves. The play ran off-Broadway in the early summer of 2006 at Playwrights Horizons.

Available Roles:
Thomas, M, 25-35, Hannah's wayward son, a rugged outdoor type who happens to be gay.
(The roles of Hannah and Brandt have been auditioned and filled).

Synopsis:
Hannah, a minister and bible scholar, finds her faith at odds with that of Thomas, her gay estranged, wayward son. But when an inquisitive young gay writer hired to assist Hannah with her latest publication learns painful secrets from Hannah?s past, she spies a risky, unconventional opportunity for reconciliation. This richly spiritual work transcends the surface-level examination of devotion it initially seems to be and instead asks real questions about the place of religion in today's, well, busy world.

Theatre is located in Newtown, Bucks County.

This weekend is the 2007 Delaware Valley Film Festival. It's three days featuring the work of local filmmakers. There is something for everyone: short films, comedies, documentaries, dramas and music videos.

Audition Notice: "Stephen Sondheim's Follies" at Town and Country Players

I received the following announcement written by the show's director, Mr. John Zimmerman:

The Town and Country Players announces auditions for the first show of our 60th anniversary season, "Stephen Sondheim's Follies." Follies will be presented the last two weekends of April (4/20, 4/21, 4/28, 4/29, and 4/30) and the first weekend of May (5/6, 5/7) at the Town and Country Player's Barn in Buckingham Township. We are seeking a diverse cast of actors/singers/dancers with a specific need for women ages 45 and older to portray the legendary Wiesmann Girls, all of whom perform a specialty song or dance. All roles are open and newcomers to T and C are welcome.

Auditions will be held on January 20th and 21st with callbacks to be held the following weekend. All planning to audition should prepare 16 bars of a musical theatre song, preferably written by Sondheim, and bring sheet music or CD/Taped accompaniment, and arrive prepared to dance. Headshots and Resumes are suggested, but not required. Auditions will be held at the Newtown Presbyterian Church, (25 North Chancellor Street, Newtown, PA 18940) On Saturday January 20th from 12-5 pm and Sunday January 21st from 2-5.
